Sow in Peace is a newly renovated cabin located on the beautiful Cedar Lake in Nashua, Iowa.  We are nestled at the end of a private, dead end drive where there is NO traffic or real evidence of city life!!  It’s as quiet and peaceful as you would like it to be.  There’s a fire ring on the shoreline in front of the cabin for evening fires if desired, an outdoor eating area and relaxing paths for a stroll in the woods. Our goal is to provide a place for rest, rejuvenation and ridiculous fun.   We will be available to help, but you are on your own when you come and stay.  Available as a quilting/crafting retreat and ministry retreat location!

What time is check-in/check-out?
Check-in is any time after 12:00am on Friday & checkout is by 1:00pm on Sunday.  Modifications are possible…let us know what you need and we will try to accommodate.

Can I reserve the retreat for things other than scrapping or quilting?
Absolutely!  All kinds of crafters are welcome.  We are also a great place for a bible study or spiritual weekend.

What tools are available?
We have a large variety of tools, including cutting mats & cutters, iron and ironing board, scissors, and machines to rent if you don’t want to bring your own.  Wi-Fi is available.  We have fabric, batting, fusible bonding, stabilizer and so much more with The Whole Country Caboodle being upstairs in the studio.

What do I need to bring?
Bring your toiletries and clothing, bedding, towels etc. are provided and an attitude to have a great time!

Is food provided?
We will provide a continental breakfast of cereal, yogurt, coffee and bread for toast.  Butter, jelly and peanut butter will also be provided.  We do have a totally stocked kitchen – dishes, cups, silverware, bowls, platters, pots, pans, pitchers, plus a crock-pot, coffee pot, toaster, & blender.  There is a refrigerator, an electric stove, & microwave.  A small refrigerator and coffee pot are available in the quilting studio.   For more details, check out our “Kitchen” page on the website.

How many bathrooms are there?
The cabin has one bathroom and the studio workspace has a small bathroom.  We know that one bathroom isn’t going to be the easiest, but we do have 2 – water heaters for more hot water.  For larger groups, you may need to scatter shower times.

What are the sleeping arrangements?
There are 2 bedrooms, with 3 beds in each room (2 – single beds and a double bed in each room.)   Each bed has a pillow, sheet set, blanket, & comforter.  Each guest is also given a bath towel and washcloth.  There is also a queen size futon in the living area.

What else is there to do in the area?
There are many restaurants, stores, & shops in the area.  We are located in a very small community but within 10 – 20 minutes, you can be in a larger town for more options for shopping and meals.  For your convenience, we will provide a list of area restaurants, quilting and junk shops.  Nashua is also well known for the historic Little Brown Church.  We recommend you take the time to go and visit…it’s very quaint and a step back into time!

Do we need to clean before we leave?
We will come in and clean when you leave.  We do ask, however, that you wash up your own dishes and strip the bedding on the beds that are used.  Just leave the bedding on the beds and please put wet towels into the laundry basket.   And, finally, please take all trash out to the garbage can in the picnic area.  Thank you so much for your help – It is greatly appreciated!

How far is the walk to the quilting studio?
The quilting studio is approximately 75 yards from the cabin.  If you are unable to walk, we will have a golf cart available for you to use.
